Welsh is a
Celtic language spoken in Wales (a region in southwestern United Kingdom) by some 600,000 people. Most Welsh speakers are bilingual, due to the dominance of English.

In medieval times, Celtic literature was dominated by the bards. In the 18th c., literature in Welsh was renewed, and its modern era began in the 19th c. with the spread of popular education. In recent times, regional authorities have been promoting the language.

Modern Welsh is almost not
inflected, although, as in other Celtic languages, the initial consonant of a Welsh word may vary depending on context. Auxiliary verbs are used very frequently. In particular, for the past and future tenses you use an auxiliary verb followed by a 'verbnoun' (which is something like an infinitive).
